The Best Laptops for Writers and Photographers

Buying a laptop can be a tough decision because of the number of options out there but don't worry we are here to help you out that's right if you are wondering which is the best laptop for writers, photographers as well as writing a novel we have it covered. Today we are taking a look at the best laptops you can buy right now and now this isn't your best laptops usual list instead.

Considerations for a Writing Laptop

There are three main considerations when buying a laptop specifically for writing and the first one is the keyboard; you want a comfortable keyboard that is good for riding on, I personally like a keyboard that has backlight so that I can see it really, I can be watching a movie on the TV in a darkened room and I can still write on my laptop. The second consideration is battery life; I personally don't like being tethered to an outlet when I'm out in writing and that can be hard sometimes like if you are going to a restaurant there might not be a lot of outlets for you to use or they are all against the walls and you get a table in the middle of the floor and you know it's not something that you can really rely on so it's great to have a laptop with a really long battery life. The third consideration is portability and size; I prefer really small laptops because I don't even need a computer bag at that point to carry them around my I'm currently using an 11 inch MacBook Air and I absolutely love it even though it's very old it's just the right size to have full-size keys but it's so small it's very portable I don't actually need a computer bag I can just stick it in my purse and take it along with me. Some people like carrying around a backpack or computer bag and so they are able to bring around a bigger laptop and that extra space for the keyboard and the trackpad is really important to them or having the really big screen but you don't want it to be huge and cumbersome and heavy if it's something that you're expecting to take around with you a lot.

The Dell XPS 15 9560 FHD

The first laptop too thick all these boxes is actually Dells XPS 15, the Dell XPS 15 comes with an amazing design with that infinity edge display panel you have to get zero bezels on the side and the top you only get a bottom one where the front-facing camera is located but that comes with a very nice looking display which by the way can actually be configured up to a 4k touch display panel. On top of that, you get up to 7700 8q processor services, seven generation processors of Cabul eight and then you are also getting the GTX 1050 inside. The best parts about this laptop is the fact that it also comes with a Thunderbolt 3 port with up to 40 gigabits per second transfer speeds, this is actually the fastest port that you can get right now on any machine on any personal machine. So overall this is a great laptop for writers and photographers alike and here's why it only made it to this point on the list and not higher on this list, so the CPU is the 7700 HP processor which yes it's Catholic and not coffee Lake like some other laptops on this list by the way but it's also not the most powerful cabling processor which you can have on a laptop today that would be the Intel 7920 HP processor which the XPS 15 cannot be configured with. Also, it's a purely thick laptop and the battery life isn't great so if you are thinking of getting 10 hours or more on this then this isn't for you.

Lenovo Yoga 920

Next up we have a far more versatile choice and that is the Lenovo Yoga 920 famous line of yoga laptops. Essentially so you have a 180-degree hinge and just like the Google pixel book but essentially you can arrange this in four different modes from laptop to tablet mode to stand mode and tent mode and yes it's also a touchscreen display and same as with the Dell XPS 15. It can actually be configured to a 4k display thirteen point nine inches, by the way, this time but what makes this overall better than a Dell XPS 15 is the flexibility that you are getting out of this. So since you can use it in four modes thanks to that 180 degrees hinge this is incredibly useful and then it also comes with intel's eighth generation processor and even though they are not the highest and HQ series they're essentially the u series but that's pretty good because they're not the core my series variant which is pretty much what you find in most ultrabooks today including the Chromebook pixel and then you also have a pen for this which you can buy separately which supports up to 4096 levels of pressure and then the battery life is also really good much better than on the Dell XPS 15 with up to nine hours of battery life and then it also comes with not one but actually two Thunderbolt three ports which again are the fastest ports on any computer device right now. And then on top of all this, you are also getting a fingerprint scanner on the front which is very useful.

The Razer Blade Stealth 13.3" QHD+

This is a very famous laptop which I'm guessing most of you are really familiar with, so what makes this better than the XPS 15 or the Lenovo Yoga 920 is the performance and the build so in terms of the performance this one actually comes with the same Intel 77 HP processor like a Dell XPS 15 however it also comes with a gtx 1060 instead of the 10 or 15. It also comes with a 4k touchscreen display as well just like the XPS 15 and yes it also comes with a Thunderbolt 3 port as well just like the previous two laptops on this list but probably the biggest advantage over the XPS 15 is the size so this is a 14 inch laptop so it's a bit smaller than the XS 15 but it's also thinner than a 15 also being made entirely out of metal rather than plastic and mantle means that it feels and it actually is more premium than the XPS 15.

The Microsoft Surface Book 2

First off you have the battery life, so Microsoft actually claims up to 17 hours of battery life on this thing which is just unheard of on such a laptop and what I mean by such a laptop is that this thing is very powerful so it comes with Intel's eighth generation processors so coffee wake up to an Intel i7 8650 you processor service is a quad core i7 yet that's also one of the reasons why you're getting such a great battery and then you are also getting a gtx 1050 inside sixteen gigabytes of ram and a 3000 by 2000 resolution display, by the way, that is great for pretty much anything you do on this thing. So performance is great, battery life is great, the display is great too as the screen is also detachable so you can use it as a tablet when you wish and you also have the surface pen that you can buy separately or when you want to use Photoshop or any creative tools. But now here's the thing, the surface book 2 doesn't have a Thunderbolt 3 port like all the previous three laptops on this list, it also doesn't have a GTX 10:16 side like the Razer Blade but overall considering that it's pretty much as flexible as the yoga 920 but yet it actually comes with significantly more powerful processors and dedicated gtx 1050 and on top of that we are also getting 17 hours of battery life well this is a great laptop for pretty much all purposes.

The 2017 15-inch MacBook Pro

Performance wise, the 15-inch MacBook Pro is the only laptop on this list that actually gets Intel's most powerful processor the 7920 HQ. Now both the Dell XPS 15 and the Razor Blade maxed out at 7700 HQ and you can actually configure the MacBook Pro with up to the 7920 HQ which can actually go up to four point one gigahertz so this is one of the most powerful processors that you can have in any laptop. Then second, it also comes with the fastest flash storage on any laptop on a market right now with up to two terabytes of 3.2 gigabytes per second transfer speeds, this is crazy this is a complete dream for creative professionals that I have to edit large raw video formats or they have to open large image galleries for editing and photoshop and so on and on top of all this, this is the only laptop on its list by the way and in the world that can run not one but actually two 5k monitors at the same time at 60 Hertz and still be able to drive another 4 commader and still be able to drive the built-in quality display. And then you also have the best design of these laptops also the best speaker is on any laptop right now this is not just me saying this is an actual fact this thing has the best speakers on any laptop right now and the battery life is really good it's about 9 to 10 hours depending on your usage. So overall this is the perfect laptop for writers and photographers or creatives. Then if you are a developer, the MacBook Pro is also the best choice for developers as well because this is the only laptop on this list that can run on all three major operating systems so that's Mac OS Windows and pretty much any distribution of Linux then you can even run all of them lightly at the same time with specific software tools.

The Dell Vostro 3468

Another great laptop for writers and photographers alike is the Dell Vostro 3468 laptop which again brings some great value. On the specs front, it has a 1tb HDD, the 7 gen Intel Core i3 processor, 4gb of RAM and a 14.4-inch screen plus it brings a fingerprint scanner which is very rare in this price range. I mean you cannot go wrong with the Vostro 3468.

The Lenovo Yoga 510

The Lenovo Yoga 510 brings you the touchscreen experience thanks to its convertible two-in-one design, the display here is a 14 inch full HD panel which is amazing especially since most laptops in this price range have a 1366 by 768 display also since it's a convertible laptop you can use it as a traditional laptop or just flip it for a tablet experience which makes a really great laptop for writers. Other specs of the laptop include 1tb HDD core i3 6th generation which does seem a bit old and 4 GB of RAM.

The MacBook Air

The MacBook Air is one of the best laptops for writers and photographers, this is because of the unique features it possesses. Firstly the battery life on the MacBook Air is amazing as it easily lasts for around 8 hours then it's one of the most portable laptops out there; this makes it a delight for writers because you do not have to worry about having to plug your laptop in plus it is very portable making it easy to carry around. Again it performs really well even if it's the base version we are talking about the MacBook Air is available at a starting price of around $999 which makes it a great deal, also you can always go for the higher-end versions if you want more storage.

HP Envy X360

Another great laptop for professional use is the latest HP Envy laptop which looks beautiful low bezels and adds aluminum body look gorgeous plus it's so thin and lightweight it's also very very powerful with the latest a generation Core i5 chipset powering it the envy is another laptop that should easily last you from 8 to 10 hours and since this fast charging support you should be able to charge it up quickly - I personally have been using the previous generation Envy and I have no complaints about it the battery life the performance is just great plus I like the inclusion of the fingerprint scanner, the envy is another great laptop for writers and photographers.

In my opinion, the best laptop for photographers on this list are; the MacBook Pro, Dell XPS 15 and Microsoft Surface Book 2. Let me know in the comment section which you think is the perfect laptop for writing and photography, which do you think I have left out of this list or which one would you pick as the best one for you and why. So that does it for my list of the best laptops for writers and photographers.
